Leo Kao, MD is an American Board Certified Internal Medicine physician. After graduating with honors from Ross University School of Medicine, he completed his three-year internship at Flushing Hospital in Queens, New York. His years of training in New York City, in a busy, fast-paced hospital, provided him with exceptional opportunities to learn and manage a substantial variety of patient care needs. While in residency, Dr. Kao co-authored a medical publication called “Coronary Artery Fistula with Associated Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy: A Case Report”. Outpatient care experience in primary care, urgent care, skilled nursing facilities, and hospitalist work, have given Dr. Kao the skills and confidence to provide the best possible care to his patients today. His commitment to staying up to date on innovations in his field, publications, new therapies, techniques, and advances in primary care, give his patients the competence to take charge of their health. In Dr. Kao’s spare time, he likes to play and watch tennis, especially Roger Federer, golf, kite surf, exercise, cook, read fiction, and spend time with his family. Dr. Kao is passionate about food, particularly if sushi or pizza are on the menu. Dr. Kao graduated from Rutgers University with a B.A. in Economics and Chinese, and subsequently spent time in New York City, acting, writing, and filmmaking, before starting his premedical work at the University of South Florida.
